CHINA TODAY 2016年6期

I am writing to say thanks to your editors. Though todays Internet makes information easier to share, there are still fair numbers of foreigners who know little about China. What we do know comes mainly from Western media reports, so Westerners get negative impressions due to biases stemming from Chinas rapid development. But we cannot ignore China, its having the worlds largest population. I have to admit that pride in our own culture impedes our knowledge and curiosity about the mentality and customs of the Chinese people. I think your magazine provides a way of getting closer to China, even though I dont always agree with everything it says. At least it provides the chance to know the real China through its own voice. When trying to understand a culture, diversifi ed perspectives are always welcome.

I like reading your magazines as it provides useful information and interesting stories about China, especially the articles on Chinas development. I have chosen to study in China for one year because Im interested in the Chinese language and culture, and also because I would like to observe and grasp Chinese ways of doing business. I might then learn much from Chinas experience of developing high and sustainable economic growth only a few decades after reform and opening-up. Based on my personal understanding, Chinas development is the result of frequent and effective reforms and plans in the vital domains of politics, industry, economy, and real estate, all of which can be strictly implemented at different governmental levels. Chinas development miracle is mainly due to its authorities wisdom which, rather than blindly following the Western tradition, creates or redefi nes what is commonly accepted elsewhere to suit Chinas particular situation. For this reason, I would like to read more reports on Chinas development in both coastal cities and inland provinces.

I very much enjoy reading your magazine. Since childhood, Ive been fascinated by the constantly changing world. I am mainly interested in the way people of different nationalities interact and how relations between countries are built. When I was working at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation in my country I began not only to be extremely interested in international relations, but also to be curious about Asian countries. Having taken the amazing opportunity to study in China, I truly believe that my decision to come to Beijing will be a life-changing experience. In a more globalized world everything tends towards homogenization. But in my opinion, varied ways of thinking help us to achieve mutual understanding and achieve a better world amid adversity.
