作为两次格莱美奖、一次MTV音乐录影带大奖的获得者，现年19岁的新西兰音乐才女Lorde在2014年9月30日发布了自己为电影《饥饿游戏3：嘲笑鸟（上）》（The Hunger Games： Mockingjay Part I）创作并演唱的歌曲“Yellow Flicker Beat”。Lorde表示，这首歌是她在深刻理解电影主人公Katniss的想法的基础上创作的。Lorde用自己空灵而略微沙哑的独特嗓音恰如其分地表达了Katniss心中的悲苦、无奈和伤痛。这首歌节奏由舒缓到强烈，犹如涓涓细流汇入汹涌大海，在高潮处喷薄而出，震撼人心。

在MV中，Lorde也打造了一个特立独行的形象。她或是独自在空荡荡的房间中歌唱，或是呆坐在水池边、车站里，或是深夜在寂静的公路上乱舞，她特有的阴郁与周围的环境显得格格不入，十分怪异。就如影片中民众不懂Katniss的内心，只把她当成全民的希望、率众起义的英雄，可谁又了解她的孤独无助，谁又明白她所做的一切只不过是为了保护自己的家人……

从这首歌中，我们体会到了英雄苦苦挣扎的不易以及他们背后的辛酸、泪水和汗水，明白了英雄也只不过是一介凡人，只是被逆境所迫罢了，就如电影《奔腾年代》（Seabiscuit）中的一句台词：We never know how high we are till we are called to rise. 你我虽非英雄，却也应聆听英雄的心声，体味英雄的苦楚，做个善解英雄意的平凡人。
