His works convey his pursuit for freedom and novelty, in addition to a flavor of Buddhism. And he was better at prose and foreword than poetry, which was most prevalent at his time. He was so skillful in exploring questions for the textual coherence and his wording was so powerful that his prose writing was very impressive. And his prefaces were emotional and expressive. The landscape depiction was unique in that he employed such images as mountain, water, cloud and moon to contrast the movement with motionlessness of the time and space while symbolizing his personality. (School of Liberal Arts, Central South University, Changsha 410083, China)

Abstract: Before the First Opium War, the coastal natural ecosystem in Shanghai, which should have been open to the public, was dominated by those political authorities, thus highlighting the monarchy’s omnipotence in the communication hierarchy. On the one hand, its economy life was getting diversified, and people were on the move, which required reconstructing the human communication activity, which used to be built on the basis of commodity selling and buying in society. On the other, those of upper-class indulged themselves in the seemingly stable power relationship, and were cautious to any acts, ideologically, which would dismantle their power. Such conservativeness featured the cultural ecology before the war, while after that, it turned out to too open and foreign. Obviously, both were not appropriate enough. Thus, it is necessary to re-construct a balanced cultural ecology theory, which would reflect itself, and better understand, tolerate, and learn from cultures.of others.
