“Hey, let me get on.” a man shouted at the passengers on the bus.
“Its too crowded. You had better wait for the next bus.” a passenger said to him.
“But you cant go without me. Im the driver.” the man said.
“喂,让我上车!”那位男士向公交车上的乘客喊道。
“车太挤了,你最好等下一辆。”一位乘客对他说。
“但是没有我你们走不了,我是司机!”那位男士说道。
The zoo built a special eight-foot-high fence for its newly acquired kangaroo, but the next morning the animal was found hopping around outside. The height of the fence was increased to 15 feet, but the kangaroo got out again. Exasperated, the zoo director had the height increased to 30 feet, but the kangaroo still escaped. A giraffe asked the kangaroo, “How high do you think theyll build the fence?”
“I dont know.” said the kangaroo, “Maybe a thousand feet if they keep leaving the gate unlocked.”
动物园为刚引进的袋鼠建了一个八英尺高的围墙。但是第二天早上,人们发现它在围墙外面跳来跳去。于是把围墙高度增加到十五英尺,但袋鼠还是跑了出来。动物园经理甚感恼火,又叫人把围墙高度加到三十英尺,但袋鼠还是逃了出来。一个长颈鹿问袋鼠:
“你认为他们会把围墙建到多高?”
“我不知道,”袋鼠说,“如果他们继续开着大门,可能要修到一千英尺吧。”
“My head teacher is so foolish!” said a boy to a girl.
“Well, do you know who I am? I am your head teachers daughter!” the girl said.
“And do you know who I am?” asked the boy calmly.
“No, I dont know.” the girl uttered.
“Thank goodness!” said the boy with a sign of relief.
“我的班主任太傻了!” 男孩儿对女孩儿说。
“呃——你知道我是谁么?我就是你班主任的女儿。”女孩儿说道。
“那你知道我是谁么?”男孩儿故作淡定。
“我不知道呀。”女孩儿回答道。
“哦,谢天谢地。”男孩儿长舒一口气说道。
One day, the father let eight-year-old son send a letter. The son took the letter. The father then remembered he didnt write address and addressees name on the envelope.
After the son came back, the father asked him, “Have you thrown the letter into the mail box?”
“Certainly.”
“Didnt you notice that the envelope does not have address and addressees name on it?”
“I certainly saw nothing written on the envelope.”
“Then why didnt you take it back?”
“I thought that you did not write address and addressee, because you wouldnt let me know to whom you send the letter!”
一天,父亲让8岁的儿子去帮自己寄一封信。儿子拿着信去了。父亲突然想起来还没在信封上写收件人地址和姓名。
等儿子回来后,父亲问儿子:“你把信投进信箱了吗?”
“当然啦!”
“难道你没有注意到信封上没有收件人地址和姓名吗?”
“信封上的确什么都没有写啊。”
“那你为什么没有把它拿回来?”
“我以为你不写地址和收件人是因为不想让我知道你把信寄给谁呢!”
One day a little white rabbit went to a bakery and asked, “Have you got 100 buns?”
一天有只小白兔来到面包店问:“请问你们有100个小面包吗?”
The shopkeeper answered, “Sorry, we dont have that many.”
老板回答:“抱歉我们没有那么多。”
“Oh, thats a pity!” said the rabbit and left, disappointed.
“哦,太遗憾了。”小白兔失望地离开了。
The second day the little white rabbit went to the bakery again and asked, “Have you got 100 buns?”
第二天小白兔又来到那个面包店问:“请问你们有100个小面包吗?”
The shopkeeper again answered, “Sorry, we dont have that many.”
老板仍回答:“抱歉我们没有那么多。”
“Oh, its a pity,” said the rabbit, and left again, disappointed.
“哦,太遗憾了。”小白兔又失望地离开了。
The third day the little white rabbit went again to the bakery and asked, “Have you got 100 buns?”
第三天小白兔依然来到那家面包店,问:“请问你们有100个小面包吗?”
“Oh, yes we have 100 buns today!” the shopkeeper answered gladly.
“有的有的!今天我们有100个小面包啦!”老板高兴地回答。
“Thats great, Ill buy two, thank you!”
“那太好啦!我买2个,谢谢!”
The shopkeeper stood silently.
老板呆掉了。
