On December 26, 2009, the largest copper and aluminum compound material industry base in China officially broke ground in Yangchenghu Town, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou. This Base was jointly invested and constructed by Beijing North China Electric Co., Ltd Copper and Zhong Zhi Investment Development Co., Ltd.After four years of independent research and development, the enterprise has independently pioneered technical process with international top standard, and successfully developed “copper aluminum compound busbar” new type conductor material.

The copper aluminum compound material industry base has a total planned land area of 1000 mu, with a total investment of 2.8 billion yuan, annual production of 500,000 tons of copper aluminum compound materials, and total production value of 35 billion yuan. Phase I of the project plans to use 320 mu land, with an investment of over 1 billion yuan. Te project will be launched into production in October 2010, by 2012 it will develop into a production capacity of 300,000 tons of copper aluminum compound busbar, including recycling and decomposing 72,000 tons of copper compound materials, its production value will top 20 billion yuan.

After the Project is completed, this Base will become the largest copper aluminum compound material R&D center in China, a serial copper aluminum compound material manufacturing base, and a resource re-production industry base for decomposing copper aluminum compound materials. According to estimates, after the Phase I project reaches designed production capacity, it can produce 300,000 tons of copper aluminum compound busbar annually, with only an annual consumption of 135,000 tons of copper, which can replace 600,000 tons of copper busbar, and thus save 465,000 tons of copper for national industry, and lower cost by 14.4 billion yuan for manufacturers of complete set electric equipment.
