it是个很常见的单词,但要把它使用好却不是一件容易的事。现将其用法归纳如下。

1. it可以用来指代上文中提到的同一个“人或物”。例如:

There is a pen on the desk. Its mine. 桌子上有一支钢笔,那支钢笔是我的。

2. it可以用来指代一个身份不定、姓名不详的人。例如:

—Who is it knocking at the door?谁在敲门呀?

—Me. 是我。

3. it可以用来指代时间、天气、距离等。例如:

Its ten oclock,so I must go. 十点钟了,我该走了。

Its fine today,isnt it?今天天气很好,是吗?

Its five miles away from my home to our school. 从我家到学校有5英里远。

4. it可以用来指代“小孩”,尤其指婴儿。例如:

Her baby is nine months old,and it looks lovely. 她的孩子九个月了,看起来很可爱。

5. it可以用作形式主语或者形式宾语。例如:

It is too difficult for me to finish the work in two hours. 两个小时内完成这项工作对我来说太难了。

I found it easy to collect money for the people in Sichuan earthquake striken-areas. 我发现为四川地震灾区的人民募捐很容易。

6. it可以帮助构成强调句式。例如:

It is only in this way that we can defeat the earthquake in Wenchuan. 只有这样我们才能战胜汶川地震灾害。

7. it可以附在一些动词后构成固定结构。例如:

I hope youll make it soon. 我希望你很快就会成功。
