it是个很常见的单词，但要把它使用好却不是一件容易的事。现将其用法归纳如下。

1. it可以用来指代上文中提到的同一个“人或物”。例如：

There is a pen on the desk. Its mine. 桌子上有一支钢笔，那支钢笔是我的。

2. it可以用来指代一个身份不定、姓名不详的人。例如：

—Who is it knocking at the door？谁在敲门呀？

—Me. 是我。

3. it可以用来指代时间、天气、距离等。例如：

Its ten oclock，so I must go. 十点钟了，我该走了。

Its fine today，isnt it？今天天气很好，是吗？

Its five miles away from my home to our school. 从我家到学校有5英里远。

4. it可以用来指代“小孩”，尤其指婴儿。例如：

Her baby is nine months old，and it looks lovely. 她的孩子九个月了，看起来很可爱。

5. it可以用作形式主语或者形式宾语。例如：
