“Where is it?”

“My house!”

“I mean the location of the fire.”

“My kitchen!”

“Yes, but how can we get to your place?”

“Youve got a fire engine,havent you?”

“Professor,”said the old graduate at the class reunion,“now that Ive made a lot of money,I want to do something for the dear old school.Lets see now,in what studies did I excel?”

“As I remember,sir,in my class you slept most of the time.”

“Fine! Good suggestion! Ill build a dormitory!”

Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice all live in the same house. Bob and Carol go out to a movie, and when they return, Alice is lying dead on the floor in a puddle of water and glass. It is obvious that Ted killed her but Ted is not prosecuted or severely punished. Why?

Answer:

Alice is a goldfish; Ted is a cat. (Or a dog, since the fishs body is still there rather than eaten.)
