Enola: Perhaps, I should explain. My name is Enola Holmes. You may remember me. After solving my first case, I started abusiness, a 1)detective agency. Open and ready for my first clients.I was going to join the 2)pantheon of great Victorian detectives—Detective Field (Yes, sir!) , McKenzie Macintosh (Hi!), Sir AlfredHornblower (Tally Ho!), and the 3)infamous Reginald Swain. Andbest of all, I would be joining my brother. I would be his equal, adetective in my own right, worthy of the Holmes name. So, my brother, while I had not a single case, Sherlock has been 4)drowning in them. Though his latest appears to be 5)vexing him.My mother, meanwhile, is still on the run. But my path, it seemed ithad come to an end. I was a failure. All I could do now was go home.
1) detective n. 偵探
2) pantheon n.
3) infamous adj.
4) drown v.

Bessie: Enola Holmes?
Enola: Yes?
Bessie: I come to the right place then. Is it true you find lost people?
Enolat: Where did you get this? It’s months old.
Bessie: I found it on the street.
Enola: Who have you lost?
Bessie: My sister. She disappeared a week ago. Everyone says she’s run away, but Sarah wouldn’t do that, not to me. She’s my only family
now. This way. The other girls are still at work. Tea?
Enola: Thank you. Might I see her bedroom?
Bessie: Ours, you mean? You’re standing in it. We’re lucky. Most girls here are five to a room.
Enola: What does she look like, Sarah?
Bessie: About this tall. Pretty, very pretty. Green eyes, red hair, 6)freckles...
Enola: Red hair? So, Bessie, what was Sarah wearing the day she disappeared?
Bessie: It was her other dress, the green one.
Enola: Does she like reading?
Bessie: Oh, yes. She taught herself. Sarah said you had to learn about the world if you’re gonna live in it.
Enola: And she didn’t leave a note?
Bessie: Just this. She worked two jobs, you see. We couldn’t get by without it. Washed glasses at a pub, some place called the Stag Antlers. You can have it.
Enola: No, it’s all right. We’ll figure that out later. So, tell me, when was the last time you saw her?
Bessie: A week ago, at the match factory. She had a fight with Mr.Crouch, the 7)foreman, in his office.
Enola: What about?
Bessie: He said she was thieving, but Sarah’s honest.
Enola: The match factory? Is that where she works?
Bessie: Where we all work. We’re match girls, ain’t we?
Enola: Then that’s where we’ll start.
Bessie: So, you’ll take it? You’ll take the case?Thank you, Miss Holmes! Thank you!
Enola: At last, my first case, well, actually my second. I shall find you, Sarah Chapman.

Enola: Sherlock’s latest case. Fascinating.
Sherlock: And why, pray, have you moved everything?
Enola: Nothing looks different to me.
Sherlock: Nothing looks different?
Enola: Your head is sore. I can’t think why.
Sherlock: This is why I don’t have people in my rooms. Look w h a t y o u ’v e d o n e . M y papers are entirely out of order.
Enola: Your case, it’s vexing you, seems to be an awful lot of question marks on that map of yours.
Sherlock: Dundee cake. Door! I will see you again.
Enola: Is that why you’re drinking?
Sherlock: I’m more than certain, it’s not so old.
Enola: Maybe I can help.
Sherlock: You can help by leaving.
Enola: Ha, yes. The world will be a much safer place if we don’t see the inside of Sherlock Holmes, only the out. Crazy idea, have you ever considered a 8)flatmate?
Sherlock: For what purpose?
Enola: To stop you 9)descending into this!
Sherlock: Strange! How those seeking advice so often like to despense it.And then there’s your fingernails. Why on earth are you working in a match factory?
Enola: What?
Sherlock: Last night, they were dirty with green 10)traces. This morning, they are black. The 11)phosphorus from the matchmaking is mixed with the oxygen in the atmosphere. I wasn’t in such a state as to not see that.
Enola: How did you know...
Sherlock: And your neck is red. Someone has 12)gripped it or held a knife against it. Are you involved in something dangerous? Because you are still my13)ward. If you need my help, my offer remains on the table.
Enola: Perhaps, you tell me yours and I’ll tell you mine. I’m looking for a girl, Sarah Chapman. Her sister employed me,Bessie. She worked at Lyon’s match factory by day and music hall at night. Grail said that she had stolen something and that she was blackmailing them. Though Sarah wouldn’t do that.
Sherlock: How can you tell? You don’t know this person.
Enola: I feel I do.
Sherlock: You came here running from the police. Someone is already dead. And you are now a 14)suspect in a murder case. You’ve let your emotions get the better of you. Stay here, don’t leave. I will look into this.
Enola: But Sarah Chapman is my responsibility. No one else cares for these girls. I promised her sister.
Sherlock: The first mistake that a detective makes, is to make it about themselves, and not the case. Enola, I know you’re not a fan of unnecessary advice. But, please, don’t turn into me.
