Food Culture in My Hometown

There are different food cultures in different places.

On the 8th day of 12th lunar month， we make Laba porridge， which serves as a symbol of good fortune. After the Laba Festival， the Spring Festival atmosphere（氛围）gets stronger day after day. Before the Spring Festival， people buy a lot of meat to make meatballs and sausages. People also make steamed buns and rice cakes. On the morning of New Year’s Eve， we drink a bowl of sweet fried rice tea. In the evening， we prepare a lot of dishes， especially a dish of fish. Because fish in Chinese is a homonym for “surplus”. On the Lantern Festival， people eat sweet dumplings， and they symbolize reunion.

No matter what food we eat， they all represent our desire for a better life.
