The Six Banyan Temple is an established temple located on Liurong Road with a history as long as 1400 years. It is a wonderful tourist destination for those who are interested in Chinese culture and history.
Under the sunshine of the clear day,the lofty(巍峨的)pagoda(佛塔)becomes golden. When you first step into the Six Banyan Temple, you will be surprised at the peaceful and solemn(庄严的)atmosphere there. The rhythmic sound of the wooden fish reverberates(回响)in the air.Immersing in the charming sound of wooden fish and birds singing, you will feel that all the tiredness is carried away.
Dating from 537 AD,many temples were built. The Six Banyan Temple was one in Guangzhou, originally named Bao Zhuangyan Temple. The temple was ruined by a fire in the Song Dynasty and was rebuilt as the Six Banyan Temple.
Standing at the front door of the pagoda, you will see two characters of “Liu Rong”.The calligraphy(书法)was written by Su Dongpo, who visited the temple in 1100 and was asked to leave a piece of his calligraphy there.Deeply impressed by the six banyan trees in the temple,he wrote these two characters.Looking at the calligraphy while standing under the banyan trees, you will feel like Su Dongpo was standing in front of you.Isn’t it poetic?
The Six Banyan Temple shows Chinese culture, connects the past with the present, and gives us the chance to communicate with the ancient people.Come and feel it yourself!
