Khamphao Ernthavanh, Lao ambassador to China: Strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism, rural revitalization and vocational education
10月20日至25日,老撾驻华大使坎葆·恩塔万访问重庆,出席澜湄旅游城市合作联盟大会暨澜湄市长文化旅游论坛,参观访问位于西南大学的澜湄合作乡村振兴研究中心和重庆电子工程职业学院,探讨重庆与老挝在文化旅游、乡村振兴和职业教育等重点领域加强交流合作。
21日,坎葆·恩塔万大使出席澜湄旅游城市合作联盟大会并致辞。她表示,老挝拥有包括琅勃拉邦古城、占巴塞瓦普庙在内的3个世界文化遗产。新冠肺炎疫情暴发之前,拥有730万人口的老挝每年接待超过400万外国游客,其中包括100万中国游客。她坚信,将于年底通车的中老铁路将推动中老旅游合作迈上新的台阶。依托澜湄旅游城市合作联盟这一平台,在湄公河国家参与支持下,老挝和湄公河次区域旅游发展将迎来新的机遇。
同日,坎葆·恩塔万大使一行考察了澜湄合作乡村振兴研究中心建设情况。据介绍,今年10月初,澜湄合作乡村振兴研究中心在西南大学挂牌成立,这是重庆市落实澜湄合作第六次外长会地方合作成果的重要举措。该研究中心将在外交部、教育部和国家乡村振兴局的支持和指导下,通过平台建设、人才培训、现场教学、线上交流、经验分享、智库建设、样本打造、牵手行动等形式,深入展开理论和应用研究,为湄公河国家的减贫脱贫和乡村振兴贡献中国智慧、提供中国方案,为打造面向和平与繁荣的澜湄国家命运共同体作出贡献。
22日,坎葆·恩塔万大使一行赴重庆电子工程职业学院考察,参观了留学生课堂和重点学科实训室,对学校人才培养模式和教育理念给予高度赞赏和肯定。坎葆·恩塔万大使表示,今年是中老建交60周年,两国一直以来都是山水相连的好伙伴、好邻居,很荣幸很高兴看到两国协同合作不断取得重大成果,衷心希望未来能有更多的老挝学生到重庆培训学习,尤其希望在职业教育合作上启动更多务实合作项目,感谢电子工程职业学院为老挝人才培养所作的贡献和努力。
访渝期间,市政府外办主任王雯与坎葆·恩塔万大使工作会谈,就加强两地经贸、投资、物流、教育、旅游、地方友好等全方位合作进行深入交流。

From October 20 to 25, Lao Ambassador to China Khamphao Ernthavanh visited Chongqing to attend the "Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance Conference and Lancang-Mekong Mayor Forum on Culture and Tourism" and visit the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Rural Revitalization Research Center located at Southwest University and Chongqing College of Electronic Engineering and discussed the strengthening of exchanges and cooperation between Chongqing and Laos in key areas such as cultural tourism, rural revitalization and vocational education.
On the 21st, Khamphao Ernthavanh attended the Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance Conference and delivered a speech. She said that Laos has three world cultural heritage sites including the ancient city of Luang Prabang and Wat Phu. Before COVID-19 outbreak in 2019, Laos, with a population of 7.3 million, received more than 4 million foreign tourists each year, including 1 million Chinese tourists. She firmly believed that the China-Laos Railway, which will be put into operation at the end of the year, will push China-Laos tourism cooperation to a new level. Relying on the platform of the Lancang-Mekong Tourist Cities Cooperation Alliance, with the participation and support of the Mekong River countries, Laos and the Mekong subregion will usher in new opportunities for tourism development.
On the same day, Khamphao Ernthavanh and her delegation inspected the construction of the research center. It is introduced that, in early October this year, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Rural Revitalization Research Center was established at Southwest University as a key measure for Chongqing to implement the results of local cooperation at the 6th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers Meeting. The research center will, under the support and guidance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and the National Administration of Rural Revitalization, through platform construction, talent training, on-site teaching, online communication, experience sharing, think tank construction, sample creation, and hand-in-hand actions, etc. carry out theoretical and applied research, contribute Chinese wisdom and provide Chinese solutions to poverty reduction and rural revitalization in Mekong River countries, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for peace and prosperity in the Lancang-Mekong countries.
On the 22nd, Khamphao Ernthavanh and her delegation went to Chongqing College of Electronic Engineering for inspection, visited the international student classroom and key subject hands-on training room, and highly commended and recognized the school's talent training model and educational philosophy. Ambassador Ernthavanh said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos. The two countries have always been good partners and neighbors to each other. It is an honor and great pleasure to see that the collaboration and cooperation between the two countries constantly achieve significant results. She sincerely hoped that more Lao students will come Chongqing for training and study in the future and especially more practical cooperation projects in vocational education cooperation will be launched. She also thanked Chongqing College of Electronic Engineering for its contribution and efforts to the cultivation of Lao talent.
Wang Wen, director general of Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government and Ambassador H.E. Ernthavanh had a working meeting during the latter's visit, and had in-depth exchanges on strengthening the all-round cooperation in economy and trade, investment, logistics, education, tourism and local friendship between the two places.
