.She is currently completing books on W.E.B.Du Bois and Antonio Gramsci’s prison correspondence with Tatiana and Giulia Schucht.She has been awarded the Kyoto Prize and the Padma Bhushan(a civil honor bestowed by the president of India),the Lifetime Scholarly Achievement Award from the Modern Language Association of America(2018),and is Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.She holds honorary degrees from the University of Toronto,University of London,Oberlin College,Universitat Roveri I Virgili,Rabindra Bharati University,Universidad Nacional de San Martín,University of St.Andrews,Paris VIII,Presidency University,Yale University,University of Ghana-Legon,Universidad de Chile,and Babeș-Bolyai University.Her academic and non-academic work centers around humanities for social justice,and ranges from law to art curating.She is a hands-on activist engaged with rural education,ecological agriculture,and subalternity in development.
