Act I:Start a band
Narrator: Long long ago, King Xuan of Qi liked listening to the Yu very much. He ordered his band to play for him.
King Xuan: I need some music.
Minister 1: Music!
Minister 2: Come here. Music!
King Xuan: Hahaha ...Thats wonderful! Thats wonderful! You, the best! I will reward all of you.
Chorus: Thank you, Your Majesty.
Nan Guo: (whispers)Hahaha... I have played the trick. Can you believe that? I cant play the Yu at all!
Act II:A lucky dog
Narrator: Three months ago ...
King Xuan: Its too boring. I need some music. Not this music. Stop!
Minister 1: Your Majesty, what about this one?
King Xuan: Sounds good! But I want a team of musicians(乐师) to play.
Minister 1: Thats easy. Lets find some musicians.
Minister 2: I think we need one hundred of musicians for a band.
King Xuan:: No, three hundred. Go and find them.
All: Yes, Your Majesty.
Guard1: Attention! Attention! The king is looking for three hundred of musicians to play the Yu. If youve got the talent, come and sign up!
Musician 1: I can play the Yu!
Musician 2: I can! I can!
Nan Guo: I want to attend, but I can do nothing. Three hundred ... Maybe its easy for me to pretend.
Guard1: How many do we have now?
Guard 2: Two hundred and ninety-nine.
Guard1: So you are the last one, Nan Guo. Youre so lucky.
Nan Guo: Thank you, sir. I can play the Yu very well.
Minister 1: Your Majesty, three hundred musicians are ready.
King Xuan: Good! Let them play immediately!
Narrator: The three hundred musicians played in the hall.
King Xuan: Who? Who makes that noise? Catch him!
Minister 2: Your Majesty, its him!
King Xuan: How dare you! Push him out! Kill him!
Nan Guo: My ... my ... my Majesty, I have something to tell you! Just now, when I was playing, I saw the purple air coming from the East. It means you must be chosen by the god! Youre immortal(永生的). I was too excited, so I made a mistake. Thats my best wishes for you! May you live forever!
King Xuan: Whats your name?
Nan Guo: Nan Guo.
King Xuan: Give him gold! Give him silk! Promote him as the leader of my band!
Nan Guo: Thank you!
Act III:Drop the mask
Narrator: Fifteen years later, King Xuan of Qi died. His son became the new king Min of Qi. He liked listening to the Yu solo(獨奏).
King Min: Today, request the best of my band.
Nan Guo: Your Majesty, the three hundred musicians are all set.
King Min: No, just you.
Nan Guo: Me?
King Min: Cant you play the Yu?
Nan Guo: Of course. I ... I can ...
King Min: Show me now!
Nan Guo: I cant ...
King Min: You! You dishonest rubbish! You cheat all of us! Guard, push him out!
Nan Guo: I am too stupid! Forgive me, please!
