折纸是大部分人都有的童年记忆。然而，折纸艺术家刘通把中国手工匠人的智慧结晶进行发展与创新，不仅折出了国礼，而且打破了吉尼斯世界纪录。

Folding a paper plane is what most people are familiar with. However， some special paper folding artworks have broken Guinness World Records and even been regarded as national gifts. 1

While studying in Germany， Liu saw a man giving a girl a rose made of a piece of paper on the bus. 2 “What a magic trick！” thought Liu. After he got back to the dorm， he started searching

for relevant courses online.

Back in 2012， Liu folded golden chocolate wrappers into a set of angels， which soon became popular on Chinese social media and promoted the sales of the chocolate brand. 3 His work Blue and White Vase was sent to Gabon as a gift in celebration of the 40th anniversary of ChinaGabon ties in 2014. After that， Liu also made a paper crane with a tiny piece of paper of 16 square millimeters.

4 In 2016， Liu learned that the worlds last northern white rhino was being guarded by armed police day and night， and that the species could go extinct at any second. He wanted to do something as an artist. After observing some rhinos in the zoo， he managed to design a 1∶1 paper white rhino. Through months of hard work， a 3.75meterlong and 1.6meterhigh paper rhino was born. To raise public awareness of wildlife protection， Liu was invited to hold exhibition tours at the embassies of EU countries.

In Lius eyes， paper folding is one of the many ways he communicates with this world. 5 Now， his works are less complicated than before， because he is digging the stories behind， trying to fit this craft into our daily life as the inspiration.
