With CAEXPO being held for 16 consecutive years, its economic and trade effectiveness has been continuously improved. During this four-day event, in order to satisfy this demand of visitors and enterprises from China and ASEAN, the CAEXPO Secretariat is planning to build a never-ending CAEXPO. Through more online service windows, offline project matching meetings and other measures, the trade and investment promotion services of the CAEXPO have become routinized, and the economic and trade cooperation of CAEXPO has been extended. The recently launched “Cooperation Program on Licensed Commodities” is also a pragmatic move towards this goal.
On January 2, 2020, the CAEXPOs Cooperation Program on Licensed Commodities (CPLC) and its official sales platform have been officially put into operation. At its launching ceremony, Fan Longhai, Deputy Secretary-General of CAEXPO Secretariat and Deputy General Manager of Guangxi International Expositions Group Co., Ltd., said that the CAEXPO has been dedicated to promoting the trade in goods between China and ASEAN. The purpose of launching the CAEXPOs CPLC is to make better use of its brand and platform resources, and provide greater development space for enterprises to carry out cooperation with ASEAN.
CAEXPOs CPLC includes the development, operation and management of the licensed commodities of CAEXPO. They mean that the commodities designed, produced and sold by the enterprises authorized by the CAEXPO Secretariat can use the exclusive brands (such as logos, characters and mascots) of the CAEXPO within the agreed period of time. Nowadays, people can already buy souvenir pens, pearl brooches, tea and other exquisite licensed commodities in the official gift shops of the CAEXPO. With the growing influence of the CAEXPO, a web celebrity brand similar to “Forbidden City Cultural Creation” may appear and play a significant role in Guangxi in the future.
The official sales platform of licensed commodities of CAEXPO is an important part of the cooperation plan. The sales platform has opened three online sales channels on Taobao.com, JD.COM and Weidian.com, and will open other sales channels in the future. In particular, the sales platform will also set up a commodity museum of China and 10 ASEAN countries online, and increase efforts to introduce special products from ASEAN countries all year round. By extending the brand value of the CAEXPO and the time frame of trade promotion services, CAEXPOs CPLC can better serve the never-ending CAEXPO.
It is reported that the CAEXPO Secretariat is now actively attracting special commodities of ASEAN countries to join in CAEXPOs CPLC. Some Vietnamese products have been officially joined in CAEXPOs CPLC, and the Consulate General of Myanmar in Nanning is organizing dozens of Myanmars products to negotiate cooperation. According to Dr. Shwe Zin Ko, Economic Attache of Consulate General of Myanmar in Nanning, products from Myanmar will mainly include food, tourism products and clothing.
“CAEXPOs CPLC is based on the CAEXPO. Myanmar has trusted CAEXPO very much, and has participated in CAEXPO for 16 years, and believes that this program can help Myanmars goods smoothly enter the Chinese market,” said Dr. Shwe Zin Ko with China-ASEAN Panorama.
