It originated in the USA with the meaning of OK. In Japan and South Korea it signifies “money”; among Arabs this gesture is usually accompanied by a baring of teeth, and together they signify extreme hostility. This same gesture is considered obscene in some Latin American countries and Germany and to the Tunisian it means “I will kill you”.
