Dubai is a city in the Middle East,people there could be flying to work in air taxis soon.The Ehang 184 can fly for 30 minutes.It runs onbatterypower.Only one person can be in it.The air taxi riders use an App on their phones to ask for a flight.

The Ehang 184 is one of several new flying machines.Such machines are known as VTOLs.That stands for “verticaltake-off and landing”.VTOLs lift into the air with the help of electric fans.VTOLs are quieter and cleaner thanhelicopters.

In the United States,the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA)is in charge of air transportation.The FAA must do many things before it canapproveVTOL flights.It must write safety rules.It also needs to come up with traffic rules.And it needs to make sure lowflyingcraftscan't have accidents.

The FAA has approved the testing of a VTOL called “theTransition”.It runs on gas.It travels on the ground and in the air.The wings fold up when “the Transition” is on the ground and they spread out for flight.

迪拜是中东的一个城市，那儿的人可能不久就会乘空中出租车去上班。Ehang 184能持续飞行三十分钟，它是依靠电池来运行，每次只能搭乘一人，搭乘者要利用手机应用程序上的指令飞行。

Ehang 184是几种新型飞行器中的一种，这样的机器因作为垂直起降器而出名，它代表“垂直起飞和降落”。在电风扇的推动下，垂直起降器上升到了空中，它们比直升机更干净且噪音更小。
