The country of Australia has a lot of wildfires1. People or lightning2 can start fires. But three kinds of birds, known as “firehawks”(火鹰), may start fires, too. Fires make small animals come out into the open. The birds wait and catch these animals as they run away from fires.
Native3 Australians have lived in Australia for a long time. They tell a lot of stories about firehawks. People have seen birds picking up burning4 sticks from a fire, then they drop them on a dry place and make a new fire. No one has ever taken a picture of a bird doing this. A team of scientists and Native Australian guides continue to attemp to capture this phenomena.
