China’s Capacity Of Lithium Battery Stands First In The World
According to practitioners, at the beginning of 2019, lithium battery capacity generated globally reached 316 GWh, wherein the capacity contributed by China accounted for 73%, followed by USA, a far lower proportion of 12%.
This indicates that China is taking the lead in global lithium battery supply chain. It is reported that by 2015, global lithium battery capacity might reach 1211 GWh, while growth speed of USA capacity might be behind the growth of global capacity release. Therefore, European and American countries are worried about being eliminated from this industry.
In recent years, some Chinese lithium battery companies are making considerable income. For instance, Ganfeng Lithium and Tianqi Lithium achieved annual income of USD 1 billion from USD 100 million before. Ganfeng Lithium is the supplier of Tesla, BMW and Volkswagen, becoming critical node on global electric car supply chain. According to data from Volkswagen, the price of each ton of lithium carbonate exceeds USD 11500. By 2023, global demand for this material is going to double. As a matter of fact, from the perspective of global battery consumption market, overall situation is at extreme, where high-end lithium battery is in short of supplying while mid-low end lithium battery is in oversupply. As the society advances, most consumers tend to buy high-end batteries because of its excellent cruising ability as well as low possibility of exploding into flames.
Since it is so, how can related companies manufacture high-quality lithium battery? Scientists proposed the idea of using transition-metal compound like Tungsten nanowires and nano molybdenum oxide as electrode material additive. By this method, batteries will be widely praised by consumers.
