Production and operation of Xinjiang’s textile industry in the first three quarters of 2018

In the first three quarters of 2018, textile enterprises in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region with an operating income of above three million yuan finished the added value by 7.304 billion yuan, which was 11.1% higher than that of the same period last year, but the growth rate dropped by 8.0% compared with the same period last year. Textile enterprises above the designated scale finished the added value of 7.115 billion yuan, accounting for 97.4% of the textile industrys added value, and increasing by 10.4% compared with the same period last year. The growth rate, however, fell by 8.2% compared with the same period last year.

Characteristics of textile production and operation

The output of the textile industry was increasing, but the output of the textile apparel industry and the chemical fiber manufacturing industry dropped.

The textile industry finished the added value by 5.432 billion yuan, registering a growth of 17.8% compared with the same period last year, and the growth rate dropped by 12.6%. Among it, the cotton textile, printing, dyeing, finishing and fine processing finished the added value of 5.019 billion yuan, which increased by 19.4%; the home textile manufactured products or crochet-hook braided fabrics and their finished the added value of 75 million yuan, increasing by 23.3%; the linen textile, dyeing, printing, finishing and fine processing finished the added value of 60 million yuan, dropping by 34.9%. The wool manufacturing, dyeing, finishing and fine processing finished the added value of 53 million yuan, dipping by 34.3%; the textile products for industrial uses finished the added value of 47 million yuan, climbing by 7.0%; the chemical fiber weaving and printing, dyeing, and fine processing finished the added value of 14 million yuan, increasing by 65.1%.

The textile apparel and apparel industry finished the added value of 319 million yuan, dropping by 1.1%. Among it, 135 million yuan was contributed by the woven apparel manufacturing, increasing by 5.8% compared with the same period last year; 90 million yuan was contributed by the knitting or crochet-hook knitting apparel manufacturing industry, increasing by 20.6%; 94 million yuan was contributed by apparel manufacturing, declining by 21.6%.

The chemical fiber manufacturing industry finished the added value of 1.553 billion yuan, dropping by 1.4% compared with last year. Among it, 1.546 billion yuan was contributed by cellulose fiber raw materials and fiber manufacturing, dropping by 1.8%; 8 million yuan was contributed by synthetic fiber manufacturing, increasing by 2.4 folds.

Output of major products

The yarn output reached 1.2576 million tons, increasing by 20.9% compared with the same period last year. 188.6377 million meters of cloth were produced, increasing by 85.4%. The knitting wool outcome (or known as wool) reached 254.27 tons, increasing by 9.6%. The output of machine-made fabrics (woolen goods) reached 1.3854 million meters, decreasing by 33.2%.

The output of non-woven cloth (non-woven fabrics) reached 6,174.37 tons, dropping by 2.3%. 24.3896 million articles of apparels were turned out, declining by 22.5%. 160,400 tons of chemical fiber pulp were produced, dropping by 26.5%. 530,800 tons of chemical fibers were produced, rising by 5.6%.

Rapid growth of textile products export delivery value

The output delivery value of textile products reached 1.003 billion yuan, growing by 26.5%.

Among “three towns, seven parks and one center,”seven parks realized growth of their total industrial output. To be specific, the actualized industrial output of the Aksu Textile Town increased by 59.8% compared with last year; 5.2% for the Kashgar Economic Development Zone; 14.1% for the Shihezi Textile Town; 9.1% for the Korla Textile Town; 6.1% for the Jinghe Industrial Park; 2.9% for the Baichu Industrial Park; 2.2% for the Arael Industrial Park.

Significant job-creating effects

From January to August, the average labor force of textile enterprises reached 98,924 on average, increasing by 8.6% compared with the same period last year, and the newly-increased number of employees reached 7,788.

Dropping revenues of textile enterprises

From January to August, the actualized operating income of the textile industry reached 32.553 billion yuan, increasing by 13.9% compared with the same period last year, and the actualized profits were 423 million yuan, dropping by 68.7%.

Declining investment of the textile industry

The investments in the textile industry dropped by 38.4% compared with the same period last year. The drop for architectural installation engineering and equipment acquisition was 46.5% and 16.2%, respectively.
