About seven years ago,we were hosting a get-together at home.I tried tomy mother. However,as I wasmoving everything closer to the table, the marble chakla(擀面杖)out of my hand, fell hard on the floor and broke into several pieces.
A few days later,as we sat down for tea,Ifelt bad and thus I brought it up again but she said, “Don'tit;what's done is done.”When asked how long she had it,shesaid, “It belonged to my mother.” Her mother,a person shetalked about! My mother didn't have anyof her mother. Her mother had passed away when mom was an infant(婴儿),and she wasby her grandmother and stepmom.
As my mom and I sipped(小口喝)tea that day, shenothing about her past.Focused on making mebetter, she just said,“Let it go.” Even now when Iabout this, tears well(涌出)up.If I was in herthere would have been anger.
As I recall this now,I feel like her so properto this sums up who she is.Someone who goes through the ups and downs in life always can focus on what's happening right instead of what went wrong.

When I was young, like you,I had a dream. But my dream wasn't like that of ankid. It was to be the best tennis playersimply the best“female”one in the world.I had a family encouraging me to follow my dream.I learned how important it is toa dream and to dream big.My fight began when I was three and I haven't taken asince.
Buttoo often, mostwomen are not supported or arefrom choosing their path.I hope it could be changed. For me,it was a(n)of resilience(坚忍).What others marked asabout me—my race,my gender(性别)—I accepted as fuel for my success.I never let anything or anyoneme.I controlled my future.
When it comes to equal pay,it frustrates meI know first-hand that gender differences exist.I wouldwant my daughter to be paid less than my son for the same work.Women have tomany barriers to success. One is that we are constantlywe are not men.People call me one of the “world's greatest female athletes”.Why don't they say LeBron is one of the world's best male athletes? We should never let this goWe should be judged by ourbut not gender.
For everything I have achieved,I am tohave experienced the highs and lows that comesuccess.I hope my story will be a(n)for women to fight for their dreams. We mus to dream big,and in doing so,we en-able the next generation of women to bein their pursuit.
