O n July 17,2016,Shennongjia was included on the World Heritage List and honored as a“World Natural Heritage Site.”It is the first site in China and the second worldwide which is simultaneously listed by UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Programme(MAB),World Geopark,and World Heritage.

At the same time,Shennongjia Forestry District has obtained over ten honors as a protected area at the international,domestic,and provincial levels,such as a Ramsar Site of International Importance,National Nature Reserve,National Geological Park,National Wetland Park,National Forest Park,Tourist Attractions Rated as 5A,and National Ecological Demonstration Area.

Shennongjia was recommended by National Geographic magazine as“a place of a lifetime,”and was selected as one of the“50 most worthwhile places for foreigners to visit in China”by Global Joumal together with the foreign envoys and media in China.

On August 22,2018,at the 2018 World Slow City Alliance Annual Meeting held in Mirande,France,Songbai Town(a town in Shennongjia Forestry District,Hubei Province)won the title of an“International Slow City,”which is the ninth in China and the first international slow city in Hubei Province.The title can be regarded as another world-class business card of Shennongjia.

饱受赞誉的旅游胜地

2016年7月17日，神农架被列入《世界遗产名录》，荣膺“世界自然遗产地”称号，成为中国首个、世界第二个获得联合国教科文组织人与生物圈保护区、世界地质公园、世界遗产三大保护制度共同录入的“三冠王”名录遗产地。

同时，神农架林区还拥有国际重要湿地、国家级自然保护区、国家地质公园、国家湿地公园、国家森林公园、国家5A级景区、国家生态旅游示范区等十余项国际国内和省级保护地头衔。

神农架被美国地理杂志推荐为“人一辈子不得不去的地方”，被《环球游报》及海外驻华使节和驻华媒体评选为“中国最值得外国人去的50个地方”之一。

2018年8月22日，在法国米朗德举行的2018年世界慢城联盟年会上，湖北神农架林区松柏镇获得“国际慢城”称号，这是中国第9个、湖北省首个国际慢城，也是神农架斩获的又一张世界级名片。
