The Impundulu一种奇特的鸟
People from South Africa say that the Impundulu bird is as big as a person. Its legs and beak are red like fire.It moves its wings to make the noise you hear in a storm. You will also see lightning touch the ground when it fl ies down and leaves an egg.
People say that it is always thirsty for blood, which is why it kills humans and cows. People believe this strange bird can live forever, which means it never dies. It is very dif ficult to kill an Impundulu, because it can only be destroyed by fire.
This terrible animal normally works for a witch, a woman who does magic. A witch can ask her Impundulu to give someone bad luck or make them ill. She can give the bird to her daughter before she dies. Some people believe that witches can become hyenas. There are stories of people who have seen the Impundulu bird riding on the back of a hyena.
