During the summer holiday，I went to a summer camp in the United States.After spending weeks in Columbia University and Stanford University for math and writing classes，I still had some free time before I had to go back to China.

“So why not go for a campus tour of Harvard?”asked my mom.

To be honest，I was disappointed when she said this，as I knew that my mom's suggestion was really an order，but I'd planned to go to the Universal Studios theme park.

But my complaints vanished（消失）the moment I arrived at Harvard.It didn't even look like a campus，because Harvard doesn't have a traditional gate or border.Instead，it goes with the community around it naturally.

The campus was large—much larger than I had expected.There were not only restaurants and shopping malls on it， but also small parks—just like a tiny city.I arrived at the admission office and found the assistant who showed me around.

First，we went to the library，which was huge.The guide told me that the family who set up the library bydonating（捐赠）the money to build it in 1915 asked the college president not to build any more storeys after it was completed.So，the school had to think of a different way to store more books.Soon after，the basement（ 地 下 室 ）was enlarged， and later， the college began to build underground reading space.Although it might look like a small building，there are more than 92 kilometers of shelves in the library.

Apart from the impressive library，many activities are available in the university after class.As well as sports like basketball， soccer， and football， students are encouraged to take art，violin， photography， and drama classes， for example.Additionally，if students have already passed the highest grading-examination on the course they're currently on，Harvard can offer them the opportunity to learn at a company or in a lab，depending on the student's preference.

I was stunned（震惊的）by what I saw at Harvard because I hadn't expected to see so many amazing things.I had no regret any longer，as Harvard University was much better than I thought.It truly is one of the world's best schools，and was more exciting than any theme park.
