◆语篇导读

一个人在家是自由的、快乐的，虽然暂时没有了父母的唠叨和监管，但也潜伏着种种危险。如果你自己一个人在家，你该怎样应对推销员、调查员等人的来电呢？对自称抄电表的、修检水管的、检查煤气的或自称是父母的朋友的陌生人，你会给他们开门吗？当感觉不安全时，又应该向谁求助呢？

Although being home alone during the day or at night can be fun,taking a few extra precautions(预防措施)is just necessary and important.

If you answer the phone and aren't familiar with the person on the other end,don't let them know you are home alone.If someone calls for your parents,say they are busy or they are unable to come to the phone at that time．

Don't tell personal information about yourself over the phone.If someone calls you to do a survey,just tell them you are unable to answer their questions．

Locking the doors and windows prevents people from entering your house without your permission(许可)．

At night,to make the outside brighter and to make it known that someone is home,leave your front and back lights on．

Know whom you can call for help if needed.For example,your neighbors,friend's parents or your parents work．

If you live in an apartment,don't buzz people in that you don't know．

If you have to answer the door,first check to see who it is if you have a peephole (猫眼)or can see outside.If you don't feel comfortable,don't answer the door.But if you do answer the door,don't let them know that you are there by yourself.

Don't let people you don't know into the house (even if they say they work for the phone company,hydro(水电站)or something like that).Just let your parents know when they get home and they can deal with it．

to see who it is是动词不定式短语，表示目的；who it is是动词see所接的宾语从句。first在这里是副词，意为“首先”，修饰动词check。
