One day，a Frenchman（法国人） goes to see his friend.

His friend is an Englishman. The Englishman has a big dog. The dog barks（叫） at the Frenchman.

The Frenchman is scared（害怕的）.

“Dont be afraid，” the Englishman says. “Do you know：Barking dogs dont bite（愛叫的狗不咬人）？”

“Oh，yes，”answers the Frenchman. “I know it，and you know it. But ... the dog ... does he know it？”
