Wu Kangming Met with New Japanese Mr. Komatsu Michihiko (Consul General of Consulate-General of Japan in Chongqing )

On the date of September 8, Wu Kangming, Director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, met with the new arrival Komatsu Michihiko, Consul General of Consulate-General of Japan in Chongqing.

Wu Kangming welcomed Komatsu Michihiko and introduced the economic and social development of Chongqing city. He said that Chongqing and Japan has maintained extensive exchanges and pragmatic cooperation in economy, science and technology, culture and education. The Consulate-General of Japan in Chongqing made a positive contribution to promote the friendship between the two sides since the establishment.He hoped to strengthen further ties with Komatsu Michihiko and promote the cooperation between Chongqing and Japan in various fi elds.

Komatsu Michihiko thanked Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Of fi ce of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government for the welcome of his arrival as well as help and support given to Consulate-General of Japan in Chongqing. He said that it was an honor to be sent to Chongqing--the most important southwest city of China, he will lead the team to be dedicated to promoting cooperation in economic and trade, tourism and other fi elds. He also hopes to continuously get support and assistance of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Of fi ce of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and jointly promoting the friendly relation between the two sides.

Consular officers, like Saito Kenji, Deputy Consul General of Consulate-General of Japan in Chongqing, attended the meeting.

Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Of fi ce of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government of Party Committee Carry Out “Serve the Community for the 19th CPC National Congress” Theme Party Activity

On the date of September 19, Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government of Party Committee and the community Party General Branch of Honghu East Road in Tiangongdian Street of Liangjiang New Area joined hands to carry out the theme activity of “Serve the Community for the 19th CPC National Congress”. We established a close contact with the community, and made the community people feel the warmth of the party by co-constructing, visiting residents, introducing foreign affairs policies to the community.

75 party members and cadres of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government wore the party emblem and were divided into three groups to carry out activities. The first group entered the Honghu East Road Community Service Center, held a co-construction symposium with the community, and adopted and signed a joint agreement between the unit and the community party organizations. Subsequently, Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Of fi ce of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government of Party Committee and the community Party General branch paid a visit to the homes of needy party members, empty nesters and the elderly to concern their life situation, promote the great achievements since the 18th CPC National Congress and introduce the 19th CPC National Congress.

The second group and third group went to Longhu West Road residential area and central area of Chongqing Fortune Mall respectively to carry out activities involving distributing publicity pamphlet of foreign and overseas affairs, accepting consultation from the masses concerning go-abroad policy, overseas Chinese policy, foreign security policy, foreign language skills enhancement, watching the special film, The Powers’Diplomacy, making a full use of professional advantages to serve the masses and win the praise.

Wang Wen Held Talks with Delegation from Ontario, Canada

From September 12 to 13, Stewart Weller, Deputy Secretary of Intergovernmental Affairs of Ontario, Canada, led his delegation to visit Chongqing. The main purpose of their visit is to prepare the pre-work for Premier of Ontario Wynne’s visit in Chongqing.On the date of September 13, Wang Wen, Deputy Director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government held talks with the delegation.They exchanged views on such major activities during her visit in Chongqing as Intergovernmental Conferences, economic and trade forum and Matchmaking Symposium in the fi elds of agriculture, medical treatment, innovation and education.

Yang Daqing Met with Liu Shen, President of Chinese School Association in the United States(CSAUS) and Her Colleagues

On the date of September 20, Yang Daqing, Deputy Director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government met with Liu Shen, President of Chinese School Association in the United States (CSAUS)and his colleagues. First of all, Yang Daqing expressed the heartfelt gratitude to Liu Shen's long term commitment to the development of Chinese Language Education in the United States. He said that as a famous historical and cultural city,Chongqing boasts education resources, owns two National Chinese Language Education Bases accredited by PRC State Council, thus generating a great prospect for cooperation. In future, we will strengthen the cooperation in education and culture with CSAUS. To promote friendly exchanges between Chongqing and America and spread excellent Bayu culture, we will act as a go-between for communication.

Liu Shen said that it will play its role as a platform to promote cooperation between American Chinese schools and Chongqing educational entities and to attract more overseas and foreign investments in Chongqing, thus making a positive contribution to promoting cultural exchanges between China and the United States. The two sides also discussed on launching a summer camp in Chongqing and selecting Chinese teachers to teach in the United States.

Tang Wen Held Talks with Kim Kyung Chan (Deputy Director of Incheon,South Korea)

On the date of September 19, Tang Wen, Deputy Director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Of fi ce of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government held talks with Kim Kyung Chan (Deputy Director of Incheon, South Korea) and his colleges.

Kim Kyung Chan's visit to Chongqing aims to invite Chongqing government and business delegation to attend in late October the “IN-CHINA Forum”organized by Incheon Municipal Government in South Korea and held preliminary discussions with Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government on next year’s Friendship Exchange. Tang Wen said that they considered organizing relevant enterprises to visit South Korea in combination with the theme of the forum to make a further substantive communication between friendship cities. The two sides also exchanged views on promoting the operation of the two airports, enhancing cooperation and exchanges,implementing the civil servant interchange projects of the FTA, and carrying out the smart city construction.

Delegation from Nepal Came to Visit Chongqing

From September 8 to 10, Ananda Prasad Pokharel, MP of Dolakha,Nepal led delegation of northern border county council to visit Chongqing accompanied by Liu Lin, the Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Of fi ce of Tibet Autonomous Region. On the date of September 8, Mr. Tang Wen, Deputy Director of Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Of fi ce of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government held talks with the delegation. Mr. Tang Wen briefed them the economic and social development of Chongqing as well as the exchanges between our city and Nepal, hoping to strengthen cooperation in the fields of trade, education, culture, aviation and tourism.

Ananda Prasad Pokharel demonstrated that Nepal and China are friendly neighbors, and he thanked China for its constant attention to developing friendly cooperation with Nepal. He hoped to strengthen cooperation between the counties of the northern border of Nepal and Chongqing city, and to promote friendly exchanges between the two places through the Nepal-China Himalaya Friendship Association,which he represented.

During their visit to Chongqing, the delegation investigated The Chongqing Coffee Exchange, Liangjiang New Area Market Comprehensive Supervision Platform and Liangjiang New Area Service Trade Industrial Park so as to know the overview and advantages of China(Chongqing)Pilot Free Trade Zone.
