“Writings on the Wall”是“007”系列第24部电影《007：幽灵党》（Spectre）的主题曲，这首歌在2016年第88届奥斯卡颁奖典礼上摘得最佳原创歌曲大奖。2015年格莱美奖得主、英国歌手Sam Smith创作并献唱了这首歌。这是继英国最有成就的男歌手之一Tom Jones录制1965年“007”电影的主题曲“Thunderball”之后，又一位英国杰出男歌手为“007”系列电影精心奉上的音乐大作。“Writings on the Wall”一经推出便获得广泛的关注，破纪录地成为第一首获得英国单曲排行榜（UK Singles Chart）冠军的“007”电影主题曲。

歌名“Writings on the Wall”的字面含义是“墙上有文字”，这个说法出自《圣经》中的典故。《旧约·但以理书》中写道，古巴比伦国王伯沙撒设宴纵饮，突然发现宫殿的墙壁上出现了看不懂的文字，犹太预言家但以理称，墙上的文字表示“大难临头”。果不其然，伯沙撒当夜被杀，王位被篡夺。由此，“the writing on the wall”引申为“sign or warning of impending disaster （大难临头的预兆）”的意思。

在“007”系列电影中，主角James Bond每次都会经历生死之劫，因此这个歌名与电影内容十分贴合。但Sam Smith在创作时独辟蹊径，为Bond的硬汉形象增添了一丝脆弱。“How do I live？ How do I breathe？ When youre not here Im suffocating.”副歌部分的假音婉转动人，展现了英雄细腻和柔情的一面。正如每一部“007”系列电影中都有一位“邦女郎”，在《007：幽灵党》中，James Bond和Dr. Madeleine Swann也演绎了生死考验下的爱情故事。Bond本来受Swann父亲之托，保护Swann免遭幽灵党的迫害，结果却是Swann扮演了Bond助手的角色，在经历一系列惊心动魄的冒险后，他们和美国国家安全局的同事一起捣毁了全球邪恶组织——幽灵党。在寻找幽灵党的漫漫征程中，两人渐生情愫，Bond在此过程中展现出的侠骨柔情在“Writings on the Wall”这首歌里得到了完美诠释。
