Handa Seishu， the leading character of Barakamon， is a handsome calligrapher①calligrapher 英 ［kə'lɪɡrəfə］ 美 ［kə'lɪɡrəfɚ］ n. 书法家. As a descendant②descendant 英 ［dɪ'send（ə）nt］ 美 ［dɪ'sɛndənt］ adj. 下降的；祖传的 n. 后裔；子孙of the head of the calligraphy circle， he refines③refine 英 ［rɪ'faɪn］ 美 ［rɪ'faɪn］ vt. 精炼，提纯；改善；使……文雅on calligraphy but doesn't know a lot about the world. ln an exhibition， Seishu beat the curator because his works were criticized by him. After seeing it，his father exiled④exile 英 ［'eksaɪl； 'eɡz-］ 美 ［'ɛksaɪl］ n. 流放，充军；放逐，被放逐者 vt. 放逐，流放；使背井离乡him to a remote island and required him to look for the "human part he never owned". Handa held the faith that "l will create my own style of handwriting" while he was indulged⑤indulge 英 ［ɪn'dʌldʒ］ 美 ［ɪn'dʌldʒ］ vt. 满足；纵容；使高兴；使沉迷于…… vi. 沉溺；满足；放任in the rural customs. The idea was explored and grown in the dark. After all， "we are gradually transformed and those we used to guard has changed".

《元气囝仔》的主人公半田清州是一枚帅气的书法家，作为书道界掌门人的后代，书法专精却有些不谙世事。在一次作品展览上，清州因为作品被批评而对馆长大打出手。目睹此事的父亲将其流放到偏僻的岛上，严厉地要求他“找回自己欠缺了的人类的部分”。半田一边沉浸于岛上的乡间风情，一边抱着“我要写出只属于半田清州的字”这样的想法在黑暗中摸索着，成长着。毕竟“我们在逐渐蜕变，而曾经守护之物，也时过境迁”。
