At present, Chinese textile enterprises have largely slowed down their demand for textile machinery products compared to several years ago owing to the economic slowdown in China. As for the impacts to the production and sales in Italy, President Mikael ?remann told the reporter that “So far we have only experienced a slight decrease in turnover in the Chinese market. But as China is an important market for the Swedish producers and when big customers in China are affected by the slowdown, it also affects the Swedish companies. For some of the TMAS (Textile Machinery Association of Sweden) companies China is not a huge market so hence no impact.”

Today, many developing countries such as India and Vietnam are enjoying rapid development of textile industry, and their demand for textile machinery in Europe is to grow. However, according to ?remann, “In general, due to cost increase, strong RMB, political/financial situation, logistic problems etc some of the textile production, especially the niche products will move from China to neighbor countries and even back to Europe or US. Some Swedish companies have for a longer term been focusing more on India and we can see increased activity in Vietnam as well. China is however a huge market for domestic production so sales centers will remain in China. These Chinese centers can then have an important role in supporting the developing countries such as Pakistan, Vietnam, Bangladesh, etc.”

As for the characteristics Italian textile machinery sale has presented till now, ?remann said that “Some of the major trade marks for Sweden are quality and sustainability which are included in all products and services. Swedish Textile Machinery is also well known for high technology level, experience, reliability and its good reputation.”

When asked about the advantages of Chinese textile machinery compared with the European textile equipment products, ?remann said that“The major advantage for the Chinese textile industry is low cost and the huge local market potential in China. The gap could be the education level. Therese is also a challenge is the cultural differences between Chinese mentality and European.”

At the end of the interview, ?remann introduced new equipment and technology from Sweden that will be unveiled at the show as well as the new features and trends of the exhibits. “We will see several new technologies. More highly automated solutions but still modularized and designed to be customized for the specific needs of the user. ITMA 2015 will probably be the show where the Textile Machinery move in to the area of Internet Of Things. Sustainable solutions that are energy efficient, reduces chemistry and water use in the textile process is constant driving new technology development. All the Swedish companies will demonstrate their latest innovation at ITMA. To mention a few examples: a fully automatic, high productive Roll Slitting machine from Svegea. A line of Spray Applicator solutions for textile finishing and remoistening by Baldwin. Eltex will present a new Stitch-Detection Sensor for sewing machines and a new Compact Sensor for Yarn-Fault Detection in the tufting process.”
