Hunan Concentrated on Improving Development Quality and Performance of Nonferrous Metals Industry

The Working Conference of Hunan Province Nonferrous Metals Industry was recently held in Changsha. Chen Quanxun, Counselor of the State Council, and President of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, said that under the economic new normal stage, Hunan Province nonferrous metals industry transformed environmental protection pressure into development momentum, by leveraging innovation motivation, and walking a path of eco-friendly development, it became a paradigm in the whole industry in the aspects of development quality and benefit, industrial transition and upgrading, technological innovation and industry management. He hoped Hunan Province nonferrous metals industry to insist on high efficiency development, eco-friendly development, and intensive development, so as to make still greater contributions to building China into a nonferrous metals big power.

According to insiders, in 2014 Hunan Province nonferrous metals industry closely revolved around the main line of “adjusting structure, changing the way”, emphasized on propelling “Two types” (Resource economical type, environmental friendly type society) development of nonferrous metal industry. Firstly, it steadily pushed forward structural adjustment. The output percentage of major metals such as copper and aluminum in the total output of ten nonferrous metals in Hunan Province rose to 14.5%, industry concentration degree of top ten enterprises in the industry rose to 45%, whole year investment in technological upgrading reached 42.2 billion yuan, over 60 new technologies and new processes were popularized and adopted. Secondly, achievements of technological progress were abundant. In the whole year of last year Hunan Province nonferrous metals industry received a total of 42 prizes of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Technology Progress Award (wherein 11 were first prizes, 20 were second prizes, 11 were third prizes), the prize grades and percentage ranked top in the whole industry nationwide. Thirdly, there were frequent pieces of good news about resources prospecting. It newly discovered 5 mineral producing areas, discovered 5 mid-size above mineral deposits, newly added lead-zinc, gold, copper, tin, and tungsten resources reserve reached above 2 million tonnes. Fourthly, recycling recorded new satisfactory performance. Hunan Province resources secondary metal output reached 1.22 million tonnes, income from main business topped 100 billion yuan to become a new growth pole of the nonferrous metals industry.

Song Jianmin, Director of the Nonferrous Metals Administration Bureau of Hunan Province, put forward work target of Hunan Province’s nonferrous metals industry in 2015: Output of ten nonferrous metals grows by about 2%, income from main business and industrial added value grows by about 10%, profit tax grows by over 12%. In order to fulfill this target, Song Jianmin made deployment in 8 aspects: Firstly, adjust industrial structure, drive forward technological progress; secondly, actively expand market, consolidate growth foundation; thirdly, deepen reform and system revamping, improve development momentum; fourthly, vigorously attract investment, improve development motivation; fifthly, intensify efforts in mine prospecting, propel recycling; sixthly, strengthen environmental protection, ensure safe production; seventhly, implement public-benefiting projects, consolidate stability-maintenance achievements; eighthly, strengthen industry coordination, improve service standard.
