1. 表示“越来越多的”,用于修饰名词。如:
1) More and more people are moving to the city.(越来越多人向城市搬迁。)
2) More and more money was spent on it.(在这上面花的钱越来越多。)
2. 表示“越来越……”,用于修饰形容词、副词、动词、介词短语等。如:
1) It’s becoming more and more diffcult to fnd a job.(找工作越来越困难了。)
2) We’re going more and more slowly.(我们越走越慢了。)
3) I worry more and more every day.(我一天比一天担心。)
注意:有时用的可能是普通的比较级形式。如:
1) The weather is getting colder and colder.(天气越来越冷了。)
2) Debbie is growing fast. She keeps getting taller and taller.(戴比长得很快,个子越来越高。)

1) The job’s more or less fnished.(这项工作差不多完成了。)

I’ll go there no more.(我再也不去那里了。)
用于两者比较,并且否定两者,其意为“不……也不……,同……一样不”。如:
1) She’s no more a great singer than I am.(我不是优秀歌手,她也不是。)
2) Tom is no more rich than Jack is.(杰克不是有钱人,汤姆也不是。)
用于引出更重要的信息,其意为“更重要的,更有甚者,而且”。如:
1) He’s dirty, and what’s more he smells.(他很脏,身上还有味儿呢。)
2) They are going to get married, and what’s more they are setting up in business together.(他们就要结婚了,而且还要一起做生意呢。)
