Fresh water supply is a global concern that building design can help address. LifeAquatec is a project that proposes to integrate water collection, distribution and use within its architecture. This temporal activity is climatic and the design strategises season fluctuations in rainfall and temperature in order to store rain from wet months to be reused for passive cooling in summer months. The research involved the development of advanced water simulations, and material prototypes of composite construction that included a rubber roof structural shell and flexible ceiling bladder that would store water in wet months and secrete it as fine mist in December dry summer months to produce evaporative cooling. The water pavilion is designed as a composite structural shells whose form and articulation resolve structural optimisation and gravity constraints of water distribution within a single computational design methodology. These pragmatic concerns directly inform the qualitative design details of the project.
