In 2012 Qinghai Newly Discovered 2.36 Million Tonnes of Copper, Lead and Zinc and 440,000 tonnes of Nickel in 14 ore fields

The reporter learned from the Land and Resource Department of Qinghai Province that in 2012, by revolving around the target of acquiring new progress and new achievements in three years, making significant breakthroughs in five years, and developing new patterns in prospecting and development in eight years,Qinghai Province allocated large-scale investment and massive labor force, and actively promoted integrated exploration. According to preliminary statistics, in 2012 the whole province submitted 14 newly discovered ore fields,18 general survey bases and 14 ore fields available for development.

Newly added resource volumes in 2012 are as follows: 500 million tonnes of coal, 130 million tonnes of iron ore, 2.36 million tonnes of copper, lead and zinc, 440,000 tonnes of nickel, 60 tonnes of gold, 100 million tonnes of potash,which satisfactorily fulfilled this year’s mine prospecting target.In 2012, Qinghai Province’s investment in geological prospecting increased significantly. On the basis of actively winning over funds from the central government, and increasing provincial geological fund investment, Qinghai Province focused on promoting introduction of social capital, the whole province implemented a total of 731 geological exploration projects,invested 3.501 billion yuan, up by 39.3% on Y-o-Y basis. It newly introduced 60 out-of-town geological prospecting units, which expanded the number of province-wide geological prospecting teams to 122 teams with 15593 persons,throughout the whole year it invested 722 drilling rigs, registering the highest historical record.
