运用高级词汇，提高作文提分

词汇反映考生知识贮存量的多少，也是衡量考生英语水平的一个重要标志。根据多年的高考英语阅卷经验，笔者认为，在书面表达中，只要考生使用了高级词汇，即便是一两个，也会令阅卷老师眼睛为之一亮，从而提高作文的得分档次。高级词汇并不是越难越好，越长越好，主要是指那些大部分考生都想不到，但又符合英语习惯表达的词汇。例如：

1. At weekends，we have a lot of homework to do.

高级词汇：endless

高级表达：At weekends，we have endless homework to do.

2. At the foot of the mountain，there was a small river.

高级词汇：there flows...

高级表达：At the foot of the mountain，there flowed a small river.

3. This is a difficult job.

高级词汇：challenging

高级表达：This is a challenging job.

4. As a result，the plan was a failure.

高级词汇：prove to be，turn out to be.

高级表达：The plan proved to be a failure.

The plan turned out to be a failure.

5. Because the weather was good，we had a comfortable journey.

高级词汇：thanks to

高级表达：Thanks to the good weather，we had a comfortable journey.

6. I thought out a good idea.

高级词汇：hit，strike，occur to

高级表达：A good idea hit / struck / occurred to me.

7. He gave up his plan because he didnt have enough money.

高级词汇：abandon，lack of

高级表达：He abandoned his plan for lack of money.

8. Ill thank you if you think about my application.

高级词汇：appreciate，take...into consideration

高级表达：Ill appreciate it if you take my application into consideration.
