Between May2006 and December 2007, he visited bothof the earths poles and climbed the highestpeaks of all seven continents in honor of theBeijing Olympic Games. The following year,he and geoscientist Fei Xuan became thefirst Chinese explorers to traverse Greenland.So on some level, it made sense that Jinwould want to walk across the worlds largestdesert.
