A CPAFFC Delegation headed by its president Chen Haosu attended the Second UCLG ASPAC Congress in Pattaya, Thailand from July 14 to 19. With the theme “Sustainable Cities and Local Governments for a Sustainable World”, the congress organized four theme forums and eight workshops. Thai Deputy Prime Minister Sahas Bunditkul was present at the opening ceremony. As president of UCLG ASPAC, Chen Haosu made an opening speech. About 590 representatives from over 100 local governments in 24 countries attended the congress. The congress elected a new presidency, Regional Executive Bureau and Regional Council of UCLG ASPAC. Chen Haosu was recommended and approved as its founding president. Chinese cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Haikou, Harbin and Dalian were elected members of the Regional Council while Beijing also member of the Regional Executive Bureau. It was decided at the congress that the Third UCLG ASPAC Congress would be held in Hamamatsu, Japan in

2010.
