7月21日，距离2008年北京奥运会还有18天。

这一天，清晨中的青岛在霏霏细雨之后，露出了久违的晴朗，淡淡的阳光在一片片祥云中若隐若现，仿佛天空也想在这个吉祥的日子里，给青岛带来好运和祝福。

这一天，值得永远铭记。取自奥运会发源地——雅典古奥林匹亚遗址，象征着和平、友谊、希望和光明的奥运圣火来到了中国的“帆船之都”——青岛，来到了800万青岛市民的中间，并经过259名火炬手的手手相传，完成了在中国山东的首站传递。

259名擎着奥运火炬前行的人，无论是中华儿女，还是海外友人；无论是抗震英雄，还是金牌工人，或是科研专家；无论是商贾政要，还是平民百姓，都有一个共同的名字——火炬手，他们虽然步伐轻盈，心情却始终澎湃。

这一天，北京奥运圣火在青岛受到了空前的礼遇：“祥云”登上了曾经东渡日本、南下香港进行城市推介的“青岛号”大帆船，完成了北京奥运圣火在境内传递过程中的首次海上接力。直升机航拍、媒体船队跟拍、摄像车直录……海、陆、空全方位的先锋媒体在第一时间记录下火炬传递的过程，中央电视台奥运频道、山东电视台和青岛电视台直播的同时，来自青岛的嘉宾坐在直播间里自豪地解说着属于全体青岛人的接力盛况……

100分！这是国际奥委会和北京奥组委分别给青岛火炬传递活动的高度评价。圣火所到之处受到了人们的热烈欢迎，火炬大道两侧望不到尽头的观众皆以饱含激情的加油声为北京奥运圣火欢呼、为北京奥运会助威，向世界传递着800万青岛市民的热情……青岛成为北京奥运会火炬安保工作联合先遣组眼中全国奥运火炬接力以来，秩序最好、气氛最热烈的城市。

奥运圣火传递着中华民族的百年奥运梦，也延续着青岛市民的奥运激情！奥运圣火见证了红瓦绿树、碧海蓝天交相辉映的迷人风采，也见证了青岛山、海、城、帆、人的和谐之路。

"Perfect!" was the appraisal of the International Olympic Committee and the Beijing Olympic Sub-committee as they acclaimed the Torch Relay activity in Qingdao. Wherever it has appeared, the Holy Fire has been warmly welcomed by the people, who have cheered around the world for the Olympic Torch and theBeijing Olympic Games. The Torch appearance here showcased the enthusiasm of our eight million Qingdao citizens.

The Olympic Holy Fire has relayed the hundred-year Olympic dream of the Chinese nation and has extended the Olympic passion of the Qingdao citizenry. The Olympic fire has now witnessed the red tiles, blue skies, green trees and enchanting "mountain and sea" scenery of Qingdao. It has also witnessed a passionate Qingdao, comprising the unity and harmony of the beauty of nature, the joy of humankind and the thrill of sport.
