A powerful cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar on May 2, leaving tens of thousands of people dead and millions homeless and causing heavy damages to power and water supply, transport, telecommunication and other infrastructural facilities. The life of the people in the disaster-stricken areas was seriously affected. To express Chinese peoples kinship for the people of Myanmar, the CPAFFC and the China-ASEAN Association donated 10,000 US dollars to the cyclone-hit area through the Union Solidarity and Development Association of Myanmar.

On May 6, a representative of the CPAFFC went to the Embassy of Myanmar to hand over the donation and convey to the Myanmar people the sincere solicitude from CPAFFC President Chen Haosu and the China-ASEAN Association President Gu Xiulian.
