Recitation of Chinese and Arabic Poems Held in Beijing

On May 7, the Recitation of Chinese and Arabic Poems jointly sponsored by the China-Arab Friendship Association (CAFA) and the Arab Ambassadors Council in China, and organized by the Arabic Literature Association (ALA) of China, the Chinese Society for Arabic Language Teaching (CSALT), and the Arab Student Union in China, was held in the auditorium of the CPAFFC.

Tomur Dawamat, president of the CAFA, Chen Haosu, president of the CPAFFC, vice presidents and council members of the CAFA in Beijing, diplomats from embassies of Arab countries in China, teachers and students from the Arabic departments of the Beijing Foreign Studies University, Peking University, the Beijing Language and Culture University, the Beijing International Studies University, the China Islamic Institute and the University of International Business and Economics, and students of Arab countries in China, totaling about 130 people, were present on the occasion. Li Chenren, vice president of the CAFA, Zhong Jikun, president of the ALA, and Mhd Kheir Al-Wadi, chairman of the Arab Ambassadors Council in China and Syrian ambassador to China, delivered speeches at the recitation, affirming and praising the activity of its active role in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Arab countries as well as the study of Arabic literature in China.

The activity aimed to illustrate achievements in the study of Arabic literature in China, enrich the contents of cultural exchanges between China and Arab countries, and enhance Chinese students interest in learning Arabic poems. At the recitation, Chinese and Arab students recited famous poems of China and Arab countries both in Chinese and Arabic. Based on their own study and understanding, they demonstrated the charm of the two languages and cultures with their emotions and voices, making the audience indulge in the beautiful, dreamlike, thought-provoking and philosophical poetic realm. Song and dances were also performed at the occasion. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, various talents of the students were fully displayed.

After the recitation, Chen Haosu, Li Chengren, Wang Yunze, Feng Zuoku, Zhong Jikun, CSALT President Xie Zhirong, and Syrian Ambassador Mhd Kheir Al-Wadi presented souvenirs to student representatives and had photos taken with them.
