On March 28, jointly held by the CPAFFC and the Shenzhen Yu Panglin Social Welfare Fund, the press conference and the launching ceremony of the large-scale transnational philanthropic activity “Pass on love, Be friendly neighbours”—Panglin Bringing Light Tour was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Chen Haosu, president of the CPAFFC, Feng Zuoku, vice president of the CPAFFC, Yu Panglin, noted Chinese philanthropist and diplomats of Mongolia, DPRK, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were present at the occasion.

In his speech, President Chen Haosu said the Panglin Bringing Light Tour co-sponsored by the CPAFFC and the Yu Panglin Social Welfare Fund aimed at bringing light, love and friendship to Chinas neighbouring countries so as to truly realize the concept of “friendship and partnership with neighbouring countries” and the advocacy of “fostering a friendly, secure and prosperous neighbourly environment” and make contributions to establishing more harmonious good-neighbourly relations as well as common prosperity of Asia, and harmonious development of the world.

As the organizer of the activity, from June to December, the CPAFFC will organize a Chinese medical team to go to Mongolia, DPRK, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos and to help cataract patients regain their eyesight through eye surgery given free. The medical team will go to 12 cities in the five countries for six months, covering 16,000 km in their tour.

Besides the surgery, the Chinese team will also present “souvenirs of light” and medical kits of “love” to the patients as gifts, donate stationeries to local students, collect patients signatures on the “Book of comments and love left by good friendly neighbours”, hold performances together with the local artists, etc. The various cultural activities and philanthropic donations will help encourage the participation of the local people and convey to them the friendship of the Chinese people.

Now, the activity has won wide support of personages of all circles at home and abroad. Sisavath Keobounphan, central chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction, and Nguyen Thi Doan, vice president of Vietnam, highly praised the activity. Relevant friendship organizations and Chinese embassies in the five countries as well as their embassies in China, the China National Guiding Committee for Blindness Prevention, the WHO Collaborating Centre of the Prevention of Blindness in China, the Beijing Tongren Hospital, the Beijing Bei Ao Incorporation, the Saint Paul Hospital of Vietnam, and the Ophthalmology Centre of Vientiane of Laos have all expressed active support.
