Grandpa’s Chinese Shadow Puppetry

Created by the famous children’s book writer Huang Xiaoheng， this book is a picture book of traditional cultural stories suitable for children aged 3--8 years old. The protagonist of the story， Han Sheng， was born in Canada， and his grandfather is coming to Vancouver to reunite with their family. Grandpa came to Vancouver from Xiaoyi City， Shanxi Province， with shadow puppets hanging in the backyard， attracting onlookers from neighbors， but Han Sheng hid from the side and observed from afar. From resistance to curiosity， from cautious touch to fascination with shadow puppetry， Han Sheng gradually unguarded and opened his heart to his grandfather and the shadow puppet world behind him.

Huang Xiaoheng

Huang Xiaoheng is a well-known children’s book writer and winner of the Wenjin Book Award. His works have won many awards such as the 2020 Laureate Children’s Book Award， the 15th Wenjin Book Recommendation Award， the Silver Award of the Little Cool Hat International Picture Book Award， the TOP100 Original Picture Books of Youbei China， and the Xinyi Picture Book Award.

Ye Yuanyuan

Ye Yuanyuan is an illustrator and graduated from the Department of Image Art of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. She is also an independent experimental short film producer， documentary filmmaker， and creative planner of commercials and music videos.
