Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway Marks Six-Month Operation
As of April 17, 2024, the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway had been in operation for half a year, with continuously growing passenger flow. Over the six months, it transported a total of 2.56 million passengers, and trains safely traveled over 1.26 million kilometers, delivering safe, stable, and orderly transportation.
The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway connects Jakarta, capital of Indonesia, with Bandung, a famous tourist city. It is the first high-speed railway in both Indonesia and Southeast Asia, with a maximum operating speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It has shortened the travel time between the two cities from over three hours to just over 40 minutes. This is a flagship project for China and Indonesia as part of the Belt and Road Initiative, providing Indonesian people with a safe, green, and efficient travel.
Successful Launch of Shenzhou-18
A Long March-2F carrier rocket carrying the Shenzhou-18 spacecraft with three Chinese astronauts on board blasted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern China at 8:59 p.m. on April 25, 2024. About 10 minutes after the launch, the Shenzhou-18 spacecraft separated from the rocket and entered its designated orbit. The three astronauts, Ye Guangfu, Li Cong, and Li Guangsu, reported in good condition, and the launch achieved a complete success.
While in orbit, the Shenzhou-18 spaceship made a fast, automated rendezvous, docking with the space station combination. The Shenzhou-18 crew will utilize the scientific experiment cabinets and extravehicular payloads to carry out experiments in the fields of basic physics in microgravity, space material science, space life science, space medicine, and space technology.
