“The only way to accomplishsomething isthrough hard work and consistency,”said actor GregTarzan Davis. “The firststep is to get started.”
Davis grew up in a large family inNew Orleans, Louisiana. After earning adegree in elementary education at LouisianaState University in Baton Rouge, Davisbecame a teacher. He always encouragedhis young students to follow their dreams.One day, he decided to take his ownadvice. Although he enjoyed teaching, hehad grown passionate about acting. “Thefirst step is always the hardest,” Davissaid. “But once you get past it and stayconsistent, I promise you, you will achieveyour goal.”
At the age of 29, Davis has alreadyhad roles in several films. Davis saw a connectionbetween acting and teaching.“ Asan actor, you're required to dig deep intothe depths of your childlike imaginationwhen playing different roles,” he said.“What I learned the most asa teacher was how to be freewith my mind and imaginativewith my thoughts bysimplyo bservingm yf irst?gradestudents and listening to thebig ideas they had, which were so real tothem.”
Davis appreciates the opportunity hehas as an actor to realize his own potential.And Davis still keeps an eye on the future.He is motivated by a desire to help thenext generation follow their dreams.“ Thepeople who come after me inspire me,” hesaid. He wants to show others, especiallykids, that anything is possible. He haseven hosted movie screenings in New Orleansas a way to give back to the communitythat nurtured him as a child.
