History of Chinese Sinology Research Series (in total 16 volumes) to simultaneously publish in Chinese and English in 2025

The 29th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) opened at the China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing on June 15th. With a theme of deepening exchanges and mutual learning, this years fair attracted a multitude of exhibitors, presented innovative exhibition formats, and offered a rich array of activities. Responding to the fairs theme, the Elephant Press under Central China Media (CCM) leveraged its professional publishing advantage to actively promote high-quality copyrights internationally. They organized a signing ceremony for the simultaneous publication of a comprehensive series of Sinology research works in both Chinese and English, as well as an academic sharing session on overseas Sinology research.

Niels Peter Thomas, president of Springer Nature Groups Greater China Region and Global Books, Li Yan, China director of Books of Springer Nature Group, Bai Hua, editor of Humanities and Social Sciences Publishing at Palgrave Macmillan, a renowned social science publishing brand under the Springer Nature Group, and representatives from the Chinese copyright holder, including the chief editor of the series, professor Xu Baofeng, dean of the Belt and Road Academy at Beijing Language and Culture University and Director of the World Sinology Center, Professor Zhang Xiping, distinguished professor at Beijing Language and Culture University and editor-in-chief of “International Sinology,” Geng Xiangxin, chief editor of CCM, Dong Zhongshan, Chief Editor of Central China Land Media, Wang Linzhong, president of Elephant Press, and Zhang Qianjin, deputy chief editor of Elephant Press, attended the signing ceremony. The event was hosted by Zhang Guizhi, chief editor of Elephant Press.

During the event, Zhang Qianjin signed the agreement for the Chinese version publication with Zhang Xiping, while Wang Linzhong signed the simultaneous cooperative publication agreement for the English version with Niels Peter Thomas. After the signing ceremony, Xu Baofeng, Zhang Xiping, Geng Xiangxin, and Zhang Qianjin engaged in dialogue and academic sharing on the topic of “Overseas Sinology Research and the International Communication of Chinese Culture,” introducing the current state of overseas Sinology research and the significant importance of Sinology research for promoting the international dissemination of Chinese culture and building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Its reported that the History of Chinese Sinology Research Series (1978--2018) is a comprehensive academic retrospective and summary of overseas Sinology research during Chinas 40 years of reform and opening up. It aims to present the entirety of contemporary Chinese Sinology research and is a large-scale academic history of Sinology research. Led by Professors Xu Baofeng and Zhang Xiping, prominent scholars in contemporary Chinese Sinology research, the series covers summaries of Sinology research in 16 countries and regions, encompassing major countries and some areas around the world. With its pioneering, extensive, and interdisciplinary research characteristics, the series is planned to be released simultaneously in Chinese and English in 2025.
