When 21?year⁃old Godfrey Couttohopped on the bus on a normal afternoon,something that happened caught him offguard.
Godfrey was heading home aftergrabbing a bite to eat, and as he made hisway to an empty seat, a man wanted toshake his hand. Though he was surprised,Godfrey obliged him but the man keptholding on.
“He kept holding my hand,”Godfreysaid.“I thought I was getting pranked (恶作剧) at first, but he just needed comfort.”
It turned out that the stranger namedRobert was a man with special needs.Robert held tight throughout the bus ride,hugging and leaning on Godfrey like theywere best friends.“I just allowed it, likewhat I am going to do,” said Godfrey.“Sometimes you just have to be selflessand put someone else's needs above yours.”
Someone snapped a photo and it wentviral on the Internet. Soon, one of Robertsfamily members saw it and contactedGodfrey to thank him for the kind gesture.The family member explained that Robertsuffers from cerebral palsy and deafness.He also said Robert was likely afraid ofthe unfamiliar setting and simply neededsomeone to comfort him.
Godfrey stayed on the bus with hisnew friend Robert until the last stop. Hisgesture is kind and selfless. And we canall learn from it. The smallest gesture canchange a life!
