Abstract Curriculum ideological and political teaching is an important way to realize the fundamental task of strengthening moral education and cultivating people in today’s colleges and universities. Urban Garden Green Space Planning is one of core courses of landscape major. In this paper, taking the ideological and political construction of the course as an opportunity, starting from the course characteristics, the ideological and political elements contained in the course were excavated and refined, and their connotations were integrated into the theoretical teaching and practical training process. During imparting knowledge, the ideological and political awareness and professional quality of students can be improved, so as to achieve the educational goal of strengthening moral education and cultivating people, and provides reference for the teaching reform of integrating ideological and political education into other landscape courses.

"Curriculum ideological and political education" is to make all the teaching in colleges and universities play the role of ideological and political education. It can realize the "three-comprehensive education" (full-staff education, whole-process education and all-round education) by unifying explicit ideological and political education and implicit ideological and political education, so it is a systematic project[1-2]. In 2020, the Ministry of Education issued theGuidelinesforCurriculumIdeologicalandPoliticalConstructionofCollegesandUniversities, in which it is pointed out that professional teaching in colleges and universities should work together with ideological and political education. General Secretary Xi Jinping also specifically pointed out that the main channel of classroom teaching should be well utilized to form a pattern of collaborative education between ideological and political courses and other courses[3]. Teachers of specialized courses should carry out ideological and political construction, which is directly related to the influence, affinity and durability of ideological and political work in colleges and universities[4]. Comprehensively promoting ideological and political construction of courses is to integrate values into knowledge imparting and ability cultivation, and help students to shape correct world outlook, outlook on life and values, which is an essential content of talent training[5].
In order to cultivate a group of garden workers with feelings of home and country, social responsibility and professional quality, maximize the role of professional courses as the main channel of education, combine professional courses and ideological and political theory courses to educate people, and further enhance the effect of "strengthening moral education and cultivating people" of professional courses, the professional course of Urban Garden Green Space Planning is taken as an example to explore the teaching methods of curriculum ideological and political education, so as to expand the new path of curriculum education and provide useful reference for promoting the ideological and political construction of professional courses in colleges and universities.
Urban Garden Green Space Planning is a compulsory course for landscape major, and plays a very important role in the undergraduate education of landscape major. The main content is to learn the planning of urban green space system and the design of all kinds of urban garden green space (such as road green space, squares, residential green space, green space of enterprises and institutions,etc.).
2.1 Goals of teaching educationIn the study of this course, students of landscape major mainly achieve the following goals through lectures and repeated practical exercises, such as mastering the basic concepts and knowledge of urban garden green space planning, mastering the basic principles, methods and procedures of the planning and design of all kinds of garden green space, having the ability to analyze, evaluate and appreciate examples of garden green space using a variety of basic rules and techniques of composition, and having the planning and design ability of small and medium-sized garden green space.
2.2 Goals of ideological and political educationIdeological and political education aims to promote patriotism, strengthen ideals and beliefs, enhance cultural confidence and national pride, and encourage students to contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the realization of the Chinese dream. It also aims to guide students to comprehensively improve their aesthetic and humanistic qualities, establish a correct view of garden aesthetics and creation, and enhance their sense of professional responsibility and mission. Another goal is to practice the "socialist core values", train students to have the overall situation consciousness, core consciousness and legal consciousness, and develop the personality quality of the integration of knowledge and practice.
Curriculum ideological and political teaching closely combines the excavated and extracted ideological and political elements with the course teaching content, and imperceptibly improves students’ sense of mission and honor and cultivates their humanistic feelings in the process of teaching professional knowledge[6-7]. By carefully analyzing the teaching content of each chapter of the course, the ideological and political elements of the course are summarized as follows.
3.1 Cultural confidence and a sense of national prideA typical excellent garden green space case with traditional plant culture and the unity of nature and man can show the social impact of design results, guide students to understand the spiritual value contained in the design process while paying attention to the appearance of green space design, enable students to deeply understand the inheritance, enrichment and development of traditional Chinese culture through emotional empathy, and cultivate students’ patriotic feelings.
3.2 Craftsman spirit in the new eraThe "craftsman spirit" in the new era inherits and develops the traditional Chinese craftsman spirit, and its basic connotation includes dedication, lean, focus and innovation[8]. It is a new form of realization of labor spirit in the new era. Carrying forward the craftsman spirit in the new era can promote the sustainable development of landscape industry. It is necessary to guide students to explore actively and encourage them to innovate bravely, so that every student has enough psychological foundation, professional quality and skills to face the future career. In this process, it is needed to cultivate their rigorous, meticulous, dedicated and responsible working attitude and teamwork ability[9].
3.3 Ecological civilization constructionSince the 18thCPC National Congress, ecological civilization construction has been placed in the overall position of reform, development and modernization, opening up a new situation in ecological civilization construction and environmental protection. Landscape construction emphasizes the harmonious coexistence between man and nature, respects the original landform, takes effective measures according to local conditions, protects the ecological environment, and takes the road of sustainable development. This requires landscape workers to make reasonable use of natural and social factors to create a beautiful and ecological living environment and realize the green Chinese dream. In the process of teaching, teachers should always advocate the green value concept of respecting and caring for nature, enhance students’ environmental protection awareness and ecological awareness, never forget the green original intention, and shoulder the important task of building a beautiful China.
3.4 Team spiritThe practice link of the course, students should be divided into several groups to complete some tasks, including the field measurement in the early stage, drawing in the middle stage, and analysis and report in the late stage. Through the exchange and multi-dimensional thinking, the learning of flexibility of students can be strengthened, and students help each other when encountering difficulties, understand and tolerate each other when having different views, which overcome the wrong concept of self-centered and cultivate students’ teamwork spirit and collective sense of honor.
3.5 Putting the people firstThe fundamental purpose of garden construction is to serve the people and create a comfortable living environment for the people. Landscape design with humanistic care is the inevitable requirement of garden development. It is necessary to guide students to respect traditions and local cultural characteristics, pay attention to public demands, especially the interests of vulnerable groups, and pay attention to barrier-free design, so as to enable them to be people-oriented, based on the society, and have humanistic care and social responsibility.
4.1 Adding case teachingCase teaching is an important teaching method adopted in the course Urban Garden Green Space Planning. Through the explanation of representative characters, events and typical cases, on the one hand, students can better grasp and expand the teaching content; on the other hand, ideological and political elements are used as the contact point, so that students have professional identity, experience the humanistic spirit and patriotic feelings, and have psychological resonance.
4.2 Guiding students to participate activelyThe organization and implementation of the classroom is the key to the ideological and political reform of the curriculum. To skillfully integrate ideological and political elements into the specific teaching content, teachers meed to understand the growth rules of students and current events, pay attention to the diversity of classroom forms, adopt diversified teaching methods, change from being teacher-centered to student-centered, emphasize the effective interaction between teachers and students through discussion and participatory teaching methods, organize and guide students to actively participate and experience.
4.3 Reforming curriculum assessment and evaluation methodsThe ideological and political elements of the course are included in the assessment points of the course and integrated into the classroom discussion, homework and practical training. The flexible and changeable assessment methods are adopted to accurately reflect the comprehensive quality of each student in the whole learning activity and systematically reflect the integration degree of knowledge imparts and moral education. The original assessment taking single professional knowledge as the core is changed to professional and ideological and political assessment in all aspects, so that the ideological and political reform of professional curriculum achieves sustainable development.
4.4 Broadening practical curriculum resourcesIn the teaching process of garden green space planning, it is necessary to guide students to pay attention to the comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws, policies, and design norms of national green space construction and development and apply them to the design practice, combine practice, education and scientific research, give full play to their subjective initiative, lay stress on the conversion of knowledge to ability, improve their ideological quality and innovation ability, and enhance their professional ability and teamwork skills.
Curriculum ideological and political education is an effective way to realize the task of strengthening moral education and cultivating people. It is necessary to integrate the concept of curriculum ideological and political education into every link of classroom teaching and guide students to establish correct value concept and pursuit. It has a profound influence on students’ ideology and behavior. Curriculum ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new era should deal with the relationship between professional knowledge and ideological and political education, and integrate the value guidance into the curriculum. Meanwhile, teachers should continue to learn and improve their ideological and political awareness and ability, constantly explore and update teaching content, and continue to innovate teaching methods and teaching means, so that the ideological and political reform of professional courses can achieve sustainable development.
