1 Its been nearly three weeks since a fire went through a Seffner house, trapping a young boy inside. But it was two Hillsborough County deputies who broke through his bedroom window, guided him with their voices and flashlights in the middle of the night, and pulled him away from the flames. Those public servants were formally recognized and honored by the Sheriff s office.

2 Nine⁃year⁃old Owen Ares was reunited with the two people who saved his life during Wednesdays ceremony and was able to thank them. Sheriff Chad Chronister presented the agencys life⁃saving award to Deputy Alexander Maldonado and Deputy Kevin Reich.

3 “My baby is sitting here with me. He is alive,” said the nine⁃year⁃olds mother Karen McGinnis. “It could have been a completely different situation.”

4 The house fire occurred back on May 19. The following day, the Sheriffs office released the deputies body camera footage, showing their quick actions.

5 Once the deputies got the windows broken, and they pulled a window out the front of the house, they just started calling out, “Hey, buddy, can you hear us?” After about three and a half minutes of frantically (疯狂地) calling for Owen, the child finally appeared. Immediately they could see his arm and Reich was able to reach in and pull him to the window. They got the boy out of the house and carried him to safety. He was covered in soot (烟灰), and couldnt stand, but he was breathing.

6 “I felt just relief and happiness to get him out of the house, and get him as far away from the smoke as we possibly could,” Maldonado said.

7 Young Owen was taken to Tampa General Hospital with severe burns and smoke inhalation (吸入). Owen is now eating and taking steps towards recovery.

1. Its been nearly three weeks since a fire went through a Seffner house, trapping a young boy inside.

Its been nearly three weeks是主句,since引导的是时间状语从句,trapping... It has been+一段时间+since...

2. But it was two Hillsborough County deputies who broke through his bedroom window, guided him with their voices and flashlights in the middle of the night, and pulled him away from the flames.

【点石成金】本句是It was...that...引导的强调句,强调的是句子的主语two Hillsborough County deputies,其中,broke through、guided和pulled是并列谓语。
