China Mulls Building Defense System Against Near-Earth Asteroids

China is set to build monitoring and de-fense systems protecting the planet from thedangers of near-Earth asteroids （NEAs）.

Wu Yanhua， deputy director of the ChinaNational Space Administration （CNSA）， toldChina' s CCTV News recently that China willstart to build an Earth- based and space- basedNEA monitoring and warning system， in orderto ensure the safe， stable and orderly operationof spacecraft.

Furthermore， China plans to set up anNEA defense system， map out an NEA defenseblueprint and develop virtual software to simu-late NEA-derived risk scenarios.

The country hopes to approach an asteroidto observe it closely before impacting it to alterits orbit in 2025 0r 2026， a rehearsal to preventNEAs from endangering our planet in the fu-ture， according to Wu.

我國拟组建近地小行星防御系统

我国将着手组建近地小行星监测和防御系统，以应对近地小行星撞击的威胁。

国家航天局副局长吴艳华近日在接受央视采访时表示，我国要开始完善建立地基天基对小行星的监测预警系统，以确保太空中的航天器安全稳定有序运行。

同时，我国还将着手组建近地小行星防御系统，组织编制近地小行星防御发展规划，开发近地小天体防御仿真推演软件并组织开展基本流程推演。

吴艳华说，争取在2025年、2026年实施一次对某一颗有威胁的小行星的实验，既进行抵近观测，又实施就近撞击，改变它的轨道、，这样为未来人类真正应对小行星地外天体对地球家园的威胁，作出新的贡献。
