China and Kyrgyzstan Look Forward to Expanding Cooperation

For many years, China has been Kyrgyzstans largest trading partner and a major source of investment.

At the “Invest Kyrgyzstan Forum”jointly organized by the China Overseas Development Association and the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in China, the Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyz Republic, Amangeldiev said, “We very much welcome Chinese corporate investors and will strive to create a good business environment for them. At the same time, exchanges and consultations on key projects such as the ChinaKyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will be accelerated. Taking this important opportunity, the two sides should not fail to take the opportunity to further expand and deepen pragmatic cooperation in terms of bilateral investment and the economic and trade fields, and will continuously achieve new results.”

At the end of June, the Kyrgyz government approved the route of the Kyrgyzstan section of the ChinaKyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. After the completion of the China-Ukraine railway, the freight transportation time between China and Europe will be shortened by 7 days, and the freight transportation cost will also be greatly reduced. This will also increase the railway mileage of Kyrgyzstan by more than 50%, and bring more business opportunities and jobs to the local area.

Kyrgyzstans Ambassador to China,К?Бактыгулова, pointed out that Kyrgyzstan was one of the first countries to support the Belt and Road Initiative. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 30 years ago, the two countries have always carried out pragmatic cooperation in various fields on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, and have implemented a series of major infrastructure interconnection projects. Promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China is an important mission of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in China. As such, the Embassy is willing to strengthen cooperation with the China Overseas Development Association. At the same time, in order to strengthen and deepen cooperation among government departments, it is actively exploring and trying to establish a bilateral mechanism for investment and economic and trade dialog, and actively provides business information consultation, visa facilitation and other related services for Chinese enterprises interested in investing in Kyrgyzstan.

He Zhenwei, President of the China Overseas Development Association, reflected that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 30 years ago, relations between China and Kyrgyzstan have achieved development in leaps and bounds, and a high–level comprehensive strategic partnership has been established, with fruitful cooperation in the spheres of humanities, the economy and security. As a platform for assisting enterprises to “go global” so as to carry out international investment cooperation, the China Overseas Development Association has established a close and friendly cooperative relationship with the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in China, providing various types of support and assistance for enterprises or institutions of the two countries to expand their business. The China Overseas Development Association is willing to play an active role as a bridge, assisting Chinese enterprises in entering and investing in Kyrgyzstan, and making positive efforts to promote mutual investment and economic and trade exchanges between enterprises of the two countries.

Kamburov, Director of the Investment Department of the State Investment Agency of Kyrgyzstan, said that in recent years, Kyrgyzstan has promulgated a series of laws to improve the investment environment and protect the rights and interests of foreign investors, providing support for project licensing, land use, power supply and product export.

In the promotion session, the representatives of the relevant enterprises and institutions in Kyrgyzstan introduced projects in the fields of industry, agriculture, digital economy and transportation logistics, cross–border parks, tourism, new energy, affordable housing construction, etc. by video, and answered questions on the ChinaKyrgyzstan-Ukraine railway, waste power generation, development of the beer industry, rapeseed planting, etc.
